Ms McCarthy’s class have been learning about homes and hibernation. We explored how & why certain animals hibernate. We investigated what would make a good hibernating den for an animal e.g. somewhere dry & warm with food stored inside and a comfy bed. We thought about where on the school grounds would be a good place for an animal to create a den to hibernate in during winter.
The children then designed a den on paper. They chose an animal and designed how their den would look and where & how it could be built.
Next the children constructed their den big enough to fit a little teddy puppet from the classroom. They chose their materials – either big lego construction blocks, small lego blocks or playdough. We had so much fun as you can see in the photos!!!
