Cumann na mBunscol Final, Croke Park

25th October saw St. Patrick’s NS Football team hit the hallowed ground of Croke Park for the Cumann na mBunscol final against Donabate/Portrane NS. After weeks of matches, our team was ready for the big final.

Our captain Matthew O Flynn led with tenacity ably supported by Rian Handley. Points from Jack Keane and Hannah Kennedy kept the scoreboard alive while excellent goalkeeping from Paddy Fitzsimons prevented a very different final score. Excellent defense from Ava Cannon, Max Woods, James Roe & Alai Gill while our forwards Niall Fisher & Craig Doyle kept up the attack. However even a final goal from Matthew O Flynn was not enough to secure victory. Despite this heartbreaking defeat, all 26 players never gave up and displayed outstanding resilience, courage & perseverance.

Sincere thanks to our coaches Peter Keane & Diarmuid Coughlan, to our parent volunteers who came with all classes, to Betty & Ms. Byrne for the mammoth logistical task of getting everyone there and to our staff who gave up their personal time to supervise matches, the whole day was a wonderful example of St. Patrick’s NS school spirit.
